Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) If you wish to obtain your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in a short period of time, the PLAR Option is for you: The Prior Learning Assessment Recognition is a formal evaluation process for mature students (18 years +) who may be granted credits towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) because of their prior knowledge, skills and life experiences. Cooperative Education with the EOETC - a Dynamic Duo ! (Work placement) Cooperative Education experiences for credit are available to all students having acquired a minimum of 16 credits, regardless of the program they are pursuing. Coop work experiences are acquired through meaningful placements in the workplace and count as credits for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students may also benefit from the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) which is geared especially for the student wishing to pursue a career in the professional trades.
